Use of a laser for endodontic treatment (hard and/or soft tissue and root canal) is a safe and predictable form of treatment. Unlike x-rays, laser energy is not ionizing radiation. It is photothermal (produces heat.) Water and air are used as cooling devices for the heat generated.

BENEFITS OF USING LASER IN ENDODONTICS:
A) When Nd:YAG laser is properly applied to the affected body tissue, the cells are bio-stimulated and results in accelerated healingand reduced post-operative discomfort.
B) Er:YAG laser allows flow of disinfection solution into the complex root canal area that is otherwise not cleanable. This improved disinfection results in significant reduction of infected tissue (when compared to the conventional root canal treatment), which leads to improved healing rate and reduced post-operative inflammation and pain.
